ST. GEORGE, UTAH - Ardith B. Miller, born in Milford, Utah on March 1, 1919, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 8, 2012 at the age of 93 in St. George, Utah.
She is survived by her daughters Beverly Sommerfeld (Ken), Pat Hollingsworth, Margo Feller (Jack); son Steven Miller and daughter–in-law Linda Miller; 53 grandchildren, 99 great -grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sweetheart Melvin M. Miller; son Jim Miller; son-in-law Dick Hollingsworth; daughter Sharon Dillon and son-in-law Ken Dillon.
Her loving service in the LDS church included many positions but her heart was with the Young Women’s program on both stake and ward levels. She was very active in community service, including President of the Salt Lake City Council of Women, President of the Lady Lion’s club, and President of the International Peace Gardens. She was called to be the first chairman to organize the Sweet Shop for the Festival of Trees, where she served faithfully for 32 years. She was chairman of the Utah Youth Detention Center for Women as well as many other community organizations. She had served the community for over 60 years and was inducted into the Salt Lake City Council of Women’s Hall of Fame in 2003.
She was a beautiful, elegant lady. We are so blessed that she was part of our lives and such a great example of womanhood, motherhood and service. We love you our sweet mom.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 13, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street, Murray, Utah. There will be a viewing Friday prior to the services at 10:00 a.m. at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary. Interment will follow services at Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 East 4580 South, Salt Lake City, Utah.
